Steve Francis of Ashland, Ky., took the lead from polesitter Billy Moyer midway through the 50-lap finale at Golden Isles Speedway's Super Bowl of Racing IV and led the rest of the way for a victory worth $10,000.
Third-starting Scott Bloomquist, who won the previous two Super Bowl events, pitted during an early caution and faded from the outset. He retired on the 20th lap. Three-race winner Jimmy Owens was sixth, but picked up $10,000 for winning the Dart Winternationals points chase for the seven-race miniseries. Two of the 10 nights were rained out, and crowds were small until the last two nights.
Bloomquist was disqualified one night by UMP officials for too-soft tires, and suspended for 30 days, as a tire controversy raged. Eventual...

East Alabama's Wm. thomas wins $50K FASTRAK title

William Thomas in his words; “What it means to be the $50,000 FASTRAK National Champion”

William Thomas, only 20 years of age, has just won the largest Championship of his life taking home the $50,000 prize for becoming the NATIONAL CHAMPION for the FASTRAK Late Model division in 2007. Thomas better known as “Mr. Smooth” has certainly earned his name throughout the 2007 season. Thomas always made his way to the front and was a threat in the final laps of every FASTRAK Touring event. Proving once again via the FASTRAK points system, consistency pays off. The National Championship of the FASTRAK Series is certainly about the dollar amount. No one can deny that, however the title has become one of the most “prestigious” in the United States.

“It’s unbelievable” said William aft...

GEORGIA STOCK CAR RACING Dec. 6-13, 2007

Tim Pafford, who has a 15-year career in racing promotion in Georgia, is preparing to buy Suicide Circle Speedway in Albany - which he originally built as a track for Legends cars in 1998. He expects to close the sale in mid-January.

The track will be renamed The Fun Track, and will revert to dirt. The new business plan is to make the track into a five days a week operation, and a big part of the plan involves a bunch of track-owned “Road Warrior” cars. A Road Warrior is a pure stock car, with a safety cage and window net, and will be rented to any interested person for as little as $10 for six laps or $100 for a 60 lap race. Prospective renters/drivers include all of Albany’s 140,000 area residents, businesses looking for a fun es...

Old 441 reopens as Dublin USA Music & Motorsports Park

Terry Keeney will re-open the old 441 Speedway in Dublin in 2008 as the Dublin USA Music & Motorsports Park. The 3/8s asphalt track has been closed since 2001.

Keeney’s background is in concert tour promotion, television production, and fund raising for charities, and he plans to have a variety of races and entertainment events at the 700-acre facility. Rodeo tuff-cowboy shows, monster trucks, lumberjacks, and televised races are planned, with a schedule release planned in Dec.

The track will host traveling racing series during the spring and fall. No weekly racing is planned.

In Dec., Kerry Earnhardt and his sons are visiting Dublin for a deer hunt, including a meet-and-greet at the Macon Bass Pro Shop and a hog roast fund raiser.

The track is located south ...
